Everyone pretty much hates Kanye for voices his opinion on anything even though WE voice our opinions everyday on social media freely. I feel like he’s free to say what he wants and feels and most of us actually agree with him just wouldn’t say what he says publicly. Basically, after the Grammys he voiced his opinion saying that Beyonce should have won album of the year (lol sound familiar?) and how artists like Beck should respect artistry and he will always support creativity and what not. Many of you probably have no idea who Beck is. I didn’t either and most of social media or even people at the Grammys did not know who he was.
Well that’s him lol. He plays various instruments and he’s an American singer-song writer. Apparently he knows how to play 14 instruments and I have to admit that it is extremely cool!! Obviously if he’s at the grammys then he is recognized as a deserving artist who is talented. But then again Flo rida was nominated for a grammy in 2010…. HA. Anyways, I listen all kinds of music even if my blog is mostly displays one genre and I listened to some of his music and it didn’t quite appeal to me. But everyone’s different I suppose.
I get where Kanye is coming from though. Beyonce managed to keep her album a secret and released it randomly, no singles, no promotion…nothing and sold 130,000 million copies in the first week switch is crazy…I feel like that alone should be credited. People can’t do that….Most if not all of of her tours were basically sold out. I know people who literally did anything to go see her. Travelling from all over the world to see her perform. Not only that but you see in her performances how much work and dedication she puts into everything. And Kanye is not just being biased because him and Beyonce are friends. When Kanye won best video at the hip-hop awards in 2007, he actually tried to give his award away to whom he felt deserved it more which was UGK/Outcast. He always gives credit where it’s due and I admire his opinions even if I don’t agree sometimes. I believe that he’s very intelligent/educated. I also feel like people always want to admire smiley, happy, overrated individuals when not everyone is like that… You should admire real people, who have experienced a lot and have been in the music game for a while (which Beck has as well). Either way the Grammys are always the ultimate goal as an artist and sometimes the artist you’re hoping to win doesn’t but just being nominated is an honor. Beyonce and Jay-Z took home a number of Grammys and they greatly deserved every one. I believe Beyonce should have won Album of the year regardless of if she write’s her own music or plays any instruments. Everyone excels at certain talents differently, and as technology expands it’s not only about instruments anymore although it does give music an authentic feel. However, she does perform with orchestras sometimes and other musical bands. Anyways, You have to realize that minorities didn’t have the means to pay for music lessons. All they had were records and beats and a passion for music.
No disrespect to Beck at all who I’m sure is seen as someone very talented and deserving to certain individuals. But you have to think more about music and the music industry and not just getting mad at Kanye for making valid points in his opinion even if it’s more harshly then how we would word it ourselves.
